Monument to Pilar Tierro

Commemorative stone sculpture dedicated to Pilar Tierro Prado, a cantareira (traditional Galician singer) from Riós and a pioneer in preserving traditional Galician songs. Unveiled in Florderrei by the Concello de Riós, the Ourense Provincial Council and the Xunta de Galicia, this is the first work in Galicia dedicated to a cantareira. The ceremony included performances by local singers and by Miriam Figueiras, who sang a previously unpublished song by her mother. This monument honors the oral memory and cultural legacy of the community, and reflects public art's commitment to Galician identity.
